Big, bold and beautiful

Vantage was charged with designing and installing a moss wall that would do justice to the triple-height glazed atrium. It was to be the single focal point in the entire space, so something big, bold and beautiful was required!

A custom moss wall that spans three storeys

 

The perfect solution  

Moss is the perfect solution for high or inaccessible spots, because it requires no watering or maintenance. It also comes in a range of colours and textures. On this project, our planting designer created a bespoke design for the client, using a mix of flat, bun and reindeer moss. Our production team then carefully recreated the design in moss panels.

Attention to detail 

We undertook a site survey to confirm the dimensions of the alcove within the atrium. This was so that the moss wall could sit flush in the existing frame of the building, rather than having to be framed. The effect is understated and elegant, and lets the moss do all the talking!

Seamless execution 

The piece was fitted by our expert installation team. Care had to be taken to ensure that the lines of the design matched from panel to panel. This involved leaving gaps between each section which would then be filled in on site. These finishing touches really make a difference to the overall visual effect.

Wow factor 

The finished piece measures 11 meters by 4.5 metres – our largest moss wall yet. The swirling, undulating pattern of moss stretches up towards the glass ceiling, making it a most memorable feature for anyone visiting the building. We are very proud to have contributed to this project, which has transformed and updated a heritage building, whilst achieving a BREEAM excellent rating.
