Matching the needs of the space

The brief called for an English garden, heritage aesthetic using native plants and trees. Given the high-traffic nature of both terminals and the limited access for ongoing care, we recommended low-maintenance replica planting. We sourced bespoke high-quality replicas to achieve the desired look, including young oaks, lavender, buxus, grasses and ferns. Generous green walls soften expansive spaces, stairwells and bare corners, bringing texture and warmth to the space. Curved light oak planters were custom-built to match the seating’s natural organic lines.

Maximum impact, minimum disruption

This extensive project spanned two years of close collaboration - from the earliest drawings through to completion. The North Terminal was completed in December 2024, and the renovations at the South Terminal were complete a year later. With such a busy airport, it was essential that installation caused no disruption to day-to-day operations. We worked closely with the joinery contractors to get exact drawings and internal dimensions, allowing us to make planting inserts off-site for a seamless, efficient installation on the day.  

Practical solutions for a hardworking space

Both terminals have been transformed into far more welcoming spaces to pause and dwell. All foliage is fire-rated and designed for minimal upkeep – an occasional dusting is all that is required to keep it looking as fresh as the day it was installed.
